Spanish business workshop to be held in Anthony
The free event tailored to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct.15 at the Women’s Intercultural Center, 303 Lincoln St., in Anthony, New Mexico. Those attending will learn about the process of starting a business or expanding their business operations, as well as gain access to organizations that offer resources and services tailored to the unique needs of small business owners residing in the communities of Anthony, Vado, Vinton, Chaparral, Sunland Park, Canutillo, Santa Teresa and El Paso.
Participating organizations offer resources and support to new entrepreneurs and small business owners in both English and Spanish. There will also be activities available on site for children during the event. During the event, successful entrepreneurs will share their personal experiences starting a small business and will share tips on identifying local business opportunities and overcoming obstacles such as language barriers and accessing funding.
Roberto's Mexican Food from Las Cruces will sponsor a breakfast to start the event.
Participants interested in more workshops to further develop their business goal will have the opportunity to work closely with the Small Business Development Centers in Las Cruces and El Paso. Community Action Agency will offer financial literacy workshops following the event to interested participants residing in New Mexico. Event organizers include the SBDC in Las Cruces, the New Mexico State University Arrowhead Center, the offices of U.S. Sens. Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich, and the Rio Grande Council of Governments as well as support from the Women’s Intercultural Center.
