Wednesday, May 15: Protecting Students with Disabilities from Sexual Assault from 1-4pm. Presenters Dr. Scott Modell, Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for the State of Tennessee, and Katie Bridgewater, Project Coordinator for the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs will help participants develop an awareness of victimization of individuals with disabilities and how assumptions and attitudes toward disability can affect the outcome of services and education. Additionally, the participants will be presented with information on how to increase student safety and what to do if a student with a disability discloses sexual abuse. The workshop is designed for Educators, teachers, counselors, school nurses and advocates who work with disabilities. The NM Counseling & Therapy Practice Board has approved three Counseling Credit Hours. The NM Social Work Board honors the Counseling Board Credits. Provided #0082091.
